Handbags are kinds of bags whose handles are short but size of the bag is big. Handles can be carried on shoulders on your side. They have a fixed handle and you cannot adjust handles of handbags. Slings have longer handles with adjuster but the bag sizes are small/tiny. The handle is long enough to be carried across our body. Slings do not have a fixed handle like handbags. However, some handbags can also have detachable longer straps attached with doghooks with fixed handles all together.
